21st Century Checkers: 11-15s

The fifth volume in this ongoing series.
"When I wrote the first part of Solid Checkers, the 11-15s, in 1991, it presented a double challenge. First, to appropriately distribute the play among the 7 parts in advance. And secondly, to address the problem alluded to by Alex above: that of making an appropriate selection of play from a mind-boggling variety of sources.
"I leave the reader to assess how successful I was in 1991, but one thing is certain: the book before you represents a marked improvement. For one thing, a number of improvements and corrections have been made. For another, several line changes have been incorporated to firm up my recommended defences. Thirdly, given the benefit of hindsight, the play has been distributed better. And lastly, having, among other things, undertaken a complete review of the 592 games indexed in the GAYP Supplement, the play has been considerably expanded. When the Ron
King – Sergio Scarpetta match is played in July this year, I for one will be reviewing the games with particular interest!
"It is no surprise that out of the four recognized opening conventions, the 3-Move Restriction and GAYP are the most favoured: the first-named being easily the best form of restriction, and the latter representing the game in
its unadulterated form. While the 3-Move champion will always be accorded the ‘heavyweight’ title, the GAYP champion may fairly be entitled to the ‘super-middleweight’ belt. For, in the words of Alex once more:
‘[The] GAYP style requires not only special knowledge, but also great patience, special character and skills.’
